We've been quiet for awhile as we have been extremely busy prepping our newest STR! This is our first rental that is close to home. The 3 hour drive has been much easier than a 40 hour drive or 7 hour flight! We have been back and forth between home and Shingletown for the past 2 months and have officially launched on Airbnb! While we have so much we still want to do, we feel like we have outdone ourselves on this rental. It's a beautiful mid-century modern, tri-level craftsman home, complete with brand new 5-person Marquis Spas hot tub, 9' LED shuffleboard table, beautiful screened in deck with couch and pub dining table, a cornhole court with regulation cornhole boards, and an abundance of ambience!

This is the first STR that we had to fully furnish. We went over budget but thankfully a lot of our finds were thrift store and Craigslist finds. That helped a lot with not going WAY over budget. Here are some of our favorite pics once we had the house furnished:
Ambiance is really important to us. We want our place to feel magical, especially at night. Here are some of our favorite finds that we feel create ambiance:
There are a few things that I love about these lights. They are dimmable and not overly bright even at the highest setting. It was extremely challenging finding cafe lights that weren't crazy bright. These give you just the right amount of light, even at the brightest setting. We also love that you get 100 feet of lights for a great price, but also, that you get two 50-foot strings, so you can use them in different areas if needed. We have these strings all around the yard of the cabin and on the screened in deck.
I'll preface this by saying that I am addicted to flaming lights - solar flaming lights, lanterns, flaming light bulbs, etc. Since the hot tub has LED lights, I wanted low lighting for that area so as to not take away from the hot tub lights. I came across these lights and they were exactly what I was hoping for!
We highly recommend the Kasa outdoor plug for use with the dimmable string lights. This allows you to control the lights with the app and you can also use the app to dim lights to your desired lighting.
And last, our electric stove/fireplace. You can use this just for the lighting or turn on the heat to heat whatever room you put it in. This little thing lets off a lot of heat and looks great! It comes in the many cute colors! We chose navy as we felt it fit the space well.
